Snowball Fight

I was so taken with Sherry Cheever's snowflake technique on her blog today (http://sherrycheever.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/) that I had to make a card to try it out. These are fun to make and as Sherry says you can use Crystal Effects or Ranger Glossy Accents. The snowflakes were cut with Spellbinders Create a Flake 2 but you could use any die cut snowflake. I didn't distress the edges of mine just added some Tim Holtz Broken China ink here and there. The DP is ancient, have no clue of its origin and the ribbon was old too, from JoAnn's several Christmas seasons ago. Try this out....I think you'll like it.

My Weekend Project

This was a project I worked on over the weekend. The template/tutorial for this is from Becky Roberts and is called a magazine holder. You essentially make three of the basic box and then embellish. I was about to begin making cards from matching DP when I realized I had so many cards already made so I filled the box with an assortment of birthday, friend, christmas, get well etc. cards. I have 15 cards in there but it would hold more. I used SU ribbon and a prima flower on the front. This would also be great for notepads, coupons, receipts, desktop files, etc. A great gift for anyone!

3 Posts---Working Overtime!!!

OK this is me doing some showing off here. This creature is Gertie the Witch. I made her and had the most fun outfitting her special hat with all kinds of Halloween goodies. I tried to show you the hat from most angles so you can see what's on it, including a vintage Halloween paper cat/chenille figure. Her face is hand painted and she and her magic hat are distressed and given a vintage Halloween appearance. She is for sale. If anyone is interested they can contact me. In any case, enjoy her as I have!

Sparkle!!!

Another christmas card with lots of sparkle. HOWEVER, I used the new Rock Candy Stickles on the icicle strip at the top and it wasn't quite dry when I took the picture but it made it wavy. Not so nice to my taste. Anyway, I used the Nesties Label 9 for the medallions and the chipboard medallion is a K&Co. from last year but I see it is still available this year. The image is from Inkadinkadoo Winter Shapes stamped with Anna Griffin Crimson ink and heat embossed with clear EP. Highlighted with Perfect Pearls. The Icicle punch and the lace punch are Martha Stewart. Maybe icicles are supposed to be wavy OR I am too fussy. Probably the latter. Have a good weekend everyone. Fall is slipping away.........

Snow Swirled Card

I am so behind.....in everything! Yikes! We have been spending every spare moment cleaning out my MIL's house and it is a chore let me tell you. After 92 years you accumulate a lot, mostly junk in this case. It's a tedious process and I haven't had much time to create.
But here is a little card I did this evening which is 5 x 5 on Whisper White. The blue paper is textured, I think DCWV. Ribbon is from Mike's. Snowflake is Inkadinkadoo Holiday Silhouettes and the sentiment is from SU Snow Swirled. I used Stickles to pump up the snowflake a little and the corner punch for the same reason. Enjoy!

About Town Tote / Box

Lauren Meader introduced two new Timeless Templates for October and this one was really intriguing. It's big! Over 8" tall and 7.5" wide at the top. Could hold a really nice size gift. The tag is hiding the oval handles cut in the top. I took an extra picture so you could see the top of the tote with the handle if you wanted to put your ribbon in a different arrangement. I used some older Christmas DP and SU Red Riding Hood Red and Olive Green for the card stock. I used the Poinsettia Nestabilities to cut several layers for the flower and edged the petals with gold Stickles. The center of the flower is the Sizzix Sparkle die cut. The sentiment on the tag is from Holiday Best. The Nestabilities Label Nine dies were used for the tag and the ribbon is also SU Red Riding Hood Red.I used Old Olive and Red Riding Hood ink. This is a really nice size and easy to put together template. Check out Lauren's Timeless Templates at the PTI store. Have a good weekend!

Vintage Christmas

I worked my fingers to the bone on this one. Well....not really but my mojo has been on vacation and I hope is finally coming back. This is my own design, no CASEing. I used the Lockhart apron stamp and paper pieced that image and popped it up on dimensionals (it's two layers, a red one and a print one). A super prima flower, some MS ribbon and a K&Co. chipboard star finished it off. The sentiment is from A Cardinal Christmas and the twill ribbon I bought eons ago in a country shop in Lancaster and never used until now. It fit the vintage look. Everything was distressed with TH Vintage Photo ink. The paper was Basic Grey Wassail and the card base is SU Naturals White. Almost forgot....my beloved Stickles. Enjoy!

Celebration Blog Candy! Bwha-ha-ha-ha!

Well Halloween is almost here--that's something to celebrate. But I notice I am rapidly approaching 25,000 hits on my blog as well as getting very close to 500 posts. Yowza! Hardly seems possible. To thank you, my faithful readers, I am offering a few goodies of the Halloween kind to celebrate. Included are two packs of clear stamps with a Halloween theme, two chipboard bats, a spool of batty ribbon, and last but not least a coffin I made with two skeletons inside. I am leaving the embellishing up to the winner. This was a paper mache pencil box that I covered with designer paper and added two skeletons (you know....together forever....). Embelish to your heart's content! The winner will be drawn when I reach the 25,000 number so be sure to check back if you enter.

The Great Wall

The Great Wall: That's how I'm thinking about it now. I much prefer a natural barrier but when we lost our hemlocks, we had to do a fence to protect the dogs and the pond. We still have a lot of work to do out there....some regrading, planting and mulching. I did gain at least a dozen feet inside the fence so that was a bonus. It will take awhile for me to get used to it. Happy Friday everyone!

Christmas Wreath

I didn't have much energy today but I wanted to make something instead of writing thank you notes. So I used the pine cone spray from Autumn Days and stamped it in three greens on watercolor paper. The sentiment is from A Wish For Peace stamped in Red Riding Hood red on watercolor paper. I dotted in some red berries with Copics and clipped the corners with the corner punch. Then I added a fairly large star from a pack of dimensional stars from Michaels. Enjoy and hope you are having stupendous weather as we are this week! Happy Fall Y'all!

Absent a Few Days.....

I'll be out of commission for a few days. We lost my mother in law on Thursday and we are in the midst of funeral preparations and in addition, my husband and I are hosting the luncheon afterward here so I'll be a busy bee until after Monday. I'll try to post something soon after that.
