Strawberry Time!

My husband picked up a quart of local strawberries from the farm behind our development. It inspired me to get out this set from Flourishes and stamp some sweet goodness! I love the strawberry motif and this stamp set has everything. I used Copic markers to color it, Stampin' Up! Whisper White , Old Olive and Bella Rose paper. The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on watercolor paper. Both the stamp and the sentiment are Flourishes. The frame is the Classic Frame from Nestabilities and I cut two of them and then cut them up to make all the sides the same edge. Just a little trick. Ribbon is SU! Hope you can get your hands on some fresh berries. I'm making my favorite vanilla butternut pound cake to enjoy these beauties on! Yum!

My Garden

Since we were discussing flowers I thought I'd show you a few shots of the garden this year. The red climbing rose is called High Society and it's mixed with two different clematis, a Nellie Moser which is blooming now and a sweet autumn clematis which blooms in September. The yellow rose is a floribunda called Easy Going and it is. No problems with this rose. I did a couple planters in matching blue spatterware with red and white flowers. Very patriotic. The pots on the deck were mostly old enamelware from my mother in law's house when we cleaned it out. We have a lilly blooming in the pond and you can see the koi underneath. The coreopsis is going great guns. This was new for me this year and I love it. The clematis climbing up in the center bird feeder is called Countess DeLyon and blooms the best part of the summer. Beneath it are some of my perennial geraniums and there is a sweet potato vine growing out of our old mail box. Finally there is my galvanized tub of herbs and marigolds. This year I have rosemary, chives, lemon blam, pineapple sage, basil and parsley. It smells so good sitting on the deck and when you walk past. I hope you enjoy my little tour!

Everything's Coming Up Roses!

Maybe because my garden roses are blooming, I'm into this rose thing. I made a whole bunch in different colors this morning, so you'll probably be seeing more of them. This is a chipboard heart with DP. For the leaves I used a Wendy Vecchi stamp and the rose is paper, NOT Grungepaper. The butterfly is by K&Co. The sentiment is also by Wendy. I used some stickles on the rose and a little very delicate stitching around the edges of the heart. Quick and fun! It is so stinking hot here today. I love the sun but I'd like the heat to come more gradually, you know? So we can get used to it. You could fry an egg on the sidewalk out there!

A Rose for You

I had been wanting to do another Tim Holtz rose. Not as happy with this one as in the past but I seemed to be all butterfingers today! I also used one of his new dies, the Elegant Flourish. Chipboard is Maya Road and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. The background stamp is called Stitched from Stampin' Up! This was mostly done with TH Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany with some SU Bravo Burgundy. Some Pink Stickles highlight the rose and the sentiment frame.

A Sunny Day.....Finally!

After many gloomy rainy days we finally have seasonal temps and the sun. Hubs cut the grass and I worked outside awhile then came in to cool off and make art. The background for this piece is again from Mike's $1 aisle. Chipboard frame is Maya Road and the flower, leaf, and background stamps are Wendy Vecchi Studio 490. The beautiful metal butterfly is from the Tim Holtz line. Inks are Archival Olive, Distress Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire and Wild Honey (love that color!). I outline stitched with a Sakura gel pen. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Here's another card where I added texture to the background with the Swiss Dots CB folder. Used the large MS butterfly punch and a PTI stamp for the sentiment. The cutout card file is again from Mamaw's Legacy. This is actually a tri fold card.

This was a quick and simple little card cut on my Cricut from a file by Mamaw's Legacy. She has a wonderful site and many beautiful files. Some are free and some for purchase. After I finished this, I thought I should have run the white layer through a Cuttlebug folder for some texture. Why do I always think of these things when the card is done!!!

Inspired by Wendy

I hope you don't get tired of these little art pieces inspired by Wendy Vecchi and her stamps. I can't remember when I have been so in love with one line of stamps! The scalloped square background for this was chipboard from Mike's $1 aisle. The frame is a Nestability frame cut from grungepaper as are the leaves and flowers. All the stamps used are Studio 490. I used Tim Holtz distress inks Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Wild Honey, and Archival Jet Black. The metal frame is also Tim Holtz as are the hangers. I love how it turned out!

Tweet Tweet

This is a special project I've been working on today. The bird, frames and flowers were cut on my Cricut. Be sure to click on the picture to see it close up. The background paper is Wisteria and the frame is Close to Cocoa and Mellow Moss. I used Patina Stickles around the frame and lightly colored the flowers with a copic marker. MS pearls form the centers. This was fun and the bird is so realistic, even though the very tiny layers drove me batty. There are 12 layers on the wing alone! I think one done as a cardinal with pines in the background would be super don't you?

Finally, a new card....

My card supplies were getting slightly low so I decided to ink up this new set from Stampin' Up! called Vintage Vogue. I used SU Mellow Moss cardstock and ink and Very Vanilla for the circle and inside. The designer paper is Capella from Basic Grey and it is some beautiful paper. Very soft tones and very vintage looking. I used my Nesties circles and scalloped circles for the F circle and Chocolate Chip satin ribbon. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday DD!

Today my oldest child turned 40. WOW. Gets you to thinking I'll tell you. I made her this little tag for her special day and we have a date for lunch this week. She's a pediatric cardiology nurse and cares for tiny babies and small children with all kinds of serious heart issues. Very specialized. Very technical. And she's very dedicated. I couldn't show you this piece before this because she reads my blog. Happy Birthday Kathy!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers. Where would the world be without us? I miss my own mother so much. Her birthday was this past Friday. She would have been 101 were she living. She lives in my heart each day I know that. Anyway, have a wonderful, happy fun filled day. Make the powers to be take you out for a great meal too! Moms should not have to cook on Mother's Day! Love, Love, Love Wendy!

I have been collecting Wendy Vecchi stamps for awhile now and today I made this little hanging tag. The stamps are all from Wendy, the chipboard is Maya Road, the flower, clock face, and swirl are grungepaper from Mr. Tim Holtz as is the hardware. I love the sentiment and it's really how I try to live. All inks used were Distress Inks.

My View

Instead of a creative project I'm sharing with you the view from my studio window. The dogwood petals litter the ground and the grass needs a trim but you can enjoy the various azaleas and the ajuga blooming.
